In a small ceremony at Chicago's O'Hare airport yesterday, United Airlines welcomed a new type of aircraft into its fleet. The Embraer 145 or ERJ-145 is a regional aircraft typically assigned by airlines to short-haul routes such as those between New York City and Washington DC.Thanks to constant improvements in fuel consumption from Embraer, however, the ERJ-145 is now being used for longer hauls.
